Vancouver, Wash. February — 25, 2022 — ConMet’s PreSet Plus® eHub™ system has been recognized by Heavy Duty Trucking (HDT) with a spot on their 2022 Top 20 list of products. This is the second year that ConMet has received HDT’s Top 20 Award.
Products considered for HDT’s 2022 Top 20 Award were evaluated for innovation, the ability to address industry issues, and the potential to help fleets’ bottom line. Finalists were chosen by a three-person panel of the trucking industry’s most experienced editors from HDT, with the help of a panel of fleet representatives drawn from their Editorial Advisory Board and HDT Truck Fleet Innovators.
The eHub system is the first product developed by ConMet eMobility, a new business unit committed to providing electric technologies for the commercial vehicle industry. The system pairs innovative in-wheel electric motors with an industry-leading PreSet Plus hub assembly to capture wasted braking energy and repurpose it as electricity. The eHub system is packaged for simple integration at the wheel-end, leveraging the existing space between the axle spindle and brake shoes. This modularity provides limitless opportunities for placement within hybrid or fully electric commercial vehicle applications. It uses off-the-shelf brake components, so no custom brake parts are required. Additionally, the eHub system delivers significant weight savings over a centralized drive system.
“We’re extremely pleased to be again recognized by HDT with a Top 20 Award, especially because of the fleet involvement in the decision,” commented Beto Dantas, Chief Innovation and Technology Officer. “Advancing technologies that improve the way customers operate has always been our highest priority, and fleet adoption and acceptance of these new zero-emission solutions is the greatest indicator of a successful innovation. We’re honored by the positive feedback on the eHub system we’ve received from fleets and other industry experts interested in this technology.”
ConMet has identified refrigerated trailers as the first application for the eHub system. However, it’s modular design makes it an ideal solution for a myriad of commercial vehicle applications. In January, ConMet and Carrier announced a strategic alliance to provide a zero-emission transport refrigeration solution to the commercial vehicle market, pairing Carrier Transicold’s Vector refrigeration unit with ConMet eMobility’s eHub system.
